FIRST AID

Contractors are required to be trained in first aid and provide their own first aid kit/supplies. However, there is a First Aid Kit kept in the Mechanic’s Workshop if required.

 

IMPACT ON PUBLIC

Contractors must consider what the impact from their work will have on the public and how this can be minimised. 

 

NOISE

Contractors must take all practicable precaution to minimize noise. Any works, which will cause disruption to Council operations, are not to be commenced without the permission of the nominated Council Superintendent supervising the contract.

 

Noise emissions are to be managed in accordance with the Environment Protection Agencies (EPA) policy.

 

SITE MANAGEMENT

USE OF CHEMICALS

Contractors who bring hazardous substances or dangerous goods onto Council premises are required to have the following:

  • A full description including product name, use, quantity etc;
  • A copy of the Safety Data Sheet (SDS);
  • A copy of the risk assessment relating to use(s) of the hazardous substance;
  • Work procedures required for storage, use and disposal;
  • Training details of those required to use the substance.

 

INCIDENT REPORTING

Any injury, illness or incident occurring from work performed by a contractor shall be reported to the council Superintendent supervising the contract using the contractors report or Councils Incident, Injury, Near Miss Report.

 

PLANT AND EQUIPMENT

All contractor owned mobile equipment such as front-end loaders, dozers, backhoes, forklifts etc, must have keys removed, blades and buckets lowered onto the ground and must be chocked/blocked when not in use.

 

Use of any Council owned plant and equipment is PROHIBITED by Contractors.
